2024 Wanda May Vinson Scholarship Recipients

The recipients of the Wanda May Vinson Scholarships for 2024 have been announced by Sarah Smith, Director of the Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) program, sponsored by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. The scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who have provided outstanding leadership in the Kansas Association for Youth, achieved high scholastic standing, and have made contributions of service to their school and community.

The 2024 recipients include:

  • Rose Latta - Marysville HS
  • Nevaeh McVey - Otis-Bison HS
  • Landon Affield - Atchison HS
  • Hannah Rodriguez - Lansing HS
  • Blaine McVey - Topeka-Washburn Rural HS
  • Cooper Frack - Norton Community HS
  • Jocelyn Billings - Phillipsburg HS
  • Jenna Wade - Caney Valley HS
  • Myah Mattheyer - Wakeeney-Trego Community HS
  • Katie Tangeman - Seneca-Nemaha Central HS
  • Payton Scharff - Moran-Marmaton Valley HS
  • Sydney Heller - Sylvan-Lucas Unified HS
  • Emma Hubert - Belleville-Republic County HS
  • Reanna Eilrich -McPherson HS

The honorees will use the money to attend the school of their choice. The scholarships, named for the founder and former director of the Kansas Association for Youth, Wanda May Vinson, are made possible through gifts from the KAY members of Kansas and other supporters of the Kansas Association for Youth.

2024 marks the 67th year of awarding Wanda May Vinson Scholarships to high school seniors who are active KAY members. During this time span, 630 students have received these scholarships, reaching a total amount of $152,300.00.
