Air Quality Guidelines

The KSHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee recommends schools follow NCAA and Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) guidelines when air quality concerns are present. Schools should identify and pay special attention to any students with pre-existing respiratory conditions who may be more sensitive to elevated Air Quality Index (AQI) levels. These students may need their participation status modified before other students.

  1. Obtain the current AQI at your location by going to https://www.airnow.gov
  2. Use the links below to refer to NCAA and KDHE guidelines to determine participation risk with the AQI level at your location.
