2008-2009 Kansas High School Advisor of the Year

Courtney Ast from Conway Springs High School will serve as the Kansas High School Student Council Advisor of the Year for 2008-2009.

Courtney is in her eleventh year as student council sponsor and in her eleventh year of education as the high school media specialist at Conway Springs High School. While under her direction, the Conway Springs High School student council organizes an annual food drive, annual school beautification projects, and has directed fund-raising for both Greensburg and Chapman Tornado Relief efforts.

Courtney has hosted league student council conferences and has been a Senior Councilor at the KSHSAA Summer Leadership Workshop since 2005 after being a visiting advisor for 7 years. She has also presented at the Annual November KSHSAA advisor work-shops for Kansas STUCO advisors.

Courtney’s principal Brent Davis said about Courtney, “Her work ethic is second to none. She spends many evenings and early mornings working in the Library center or around school fulfilling her STUCO duties simply helping someone in the education realm. She is an excellent contributor on our staff and has a great sense of humor.”
