2024 State Bowling Tournament

Congratulations to the teams and individuals on qualifying for the State Bowling Tournament!

Wednesday, February 28, 2024 – Class 4-1A: Competition for girls and boys in Class 4-1A will take place on February 28, 2024 at Bowlero Wichita. The boys’ tournament will be held in the morning followed by the girls’ tournament in the afternoon.

Thursday, February 29, 2024 – Class 6A: Competition for girls and boys in Class 6A will take place on February 29, 2024 at Bowlero Northrock. The boys’ tournament will be held in the morning followed by the girls’ tournament in the afternoon.

Friday, March 1, 2024 – Class 5A: Competition for girls and boys in Class 5A will take place on March 1, 2024 at Bowlero Northrock. The boys’ tournament will be held in the morning followed by the girls’ tournament in the afternoon.

REGIONAL ENTRIES

Regional Entries (BWL-1 & BWL-2) are due February 16, 2024. Please complete this form ASAP. Each school may enter a maximum of six athletes in one regional tournament. Your team season average must be entered on the regional entry form. This is the average for FINAL scores at all meets (not including the Baker portion).

Regional Bowling Assignments

Electronic Communication Devices, Noisemakers

Please see page 30 in the KSHSAA Bowling Manual for policies regarding electronic communication devices and noisemakers.

-ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICES

Participants are not to be in possession of or use electronic communication devices or a smartwatch in the competition area. Electronic communication devices include but are not limited to cell phones. Cell phones shall not be used by others in the spectator area immediately behind the lanes. Phones should be turned off or placed on vibrate for those immediately behind the lanes.

-NOISEMAKERS

Noisemakers are not allowed in the bowling center.

-TENPIN BOWLING TIEBREAKER

This is the tiebreak procedure that will be using at Regionals and/or State. The Baker tiebreaker will NOT be used at Regionals and/or State.

-BAKER BOWLING TIEBREAKER

This tiebreak procedure should be used during the regular season for Baker tournaments.

Competition Area Reminders

Please see pages 28-29 in the KSHSAA Bowling Manual for policies regarding coaches, athletes, and non-playing bowlers in the competition area.

-TENPIN BOWLING

Coaches: Coaches shall remain seated in the settee area during competition except to stand to greet a bowler returning from play, spontaneously react to a great play, attend to an injured bowler, move to an adjacent lane.
Non-playing bowlers: These athletes must remain seated in the settee area during competition except to stand to greet a bowler returning from play or spontaneously react to a great play.

-BAKER BOWLING

Coaches and athletes: These individuals may stand in the settee area and at the back of the approach.
Non-playing bowlers: These athletes are NOT allowed in the settee area or the back of the approach.

Winter Moratorium

The KSHSAA winter moratorium is scheduled for December 24-28, 2023. No practices are allowed during this time. Enjoy the time with family and friends!

First Day of Practice/Competition

January 1, 2024, is the first day of high school bowling practice and/or the first day of high school bowling competition.

Working with Centers

Please ensure that you are communicating with centers regarding practice times and EAP procedures. Coaches and/or ADs should review EAP procedures at the centers in which they practice and host events. In particular, is an AED on site?

Rule 22 Outside Competition

Article 1: A student who is a member of a school athletic, scholars bowl, or debate squad effective Monday SCW #7 through Friday preceding Memorial Day may not participate as a member of an outside team or as an independent competitor in the same sport, scholars bowl or debate activity.
Article 3: A student becomes a member of a school's athletic squad, scholars bowl, or debate team when he or she first participates in a practice session. For bowling, this is any first day of practice on or after January 1.

Rule 45 – Bowling

Rule 45 – Section 1 - Article 3: No high school student representing a member school shall participate in more than 10 days of competition during a season, exclusive of regional and state tournaments.

Rule 45 – Section 3 - Article 1: No middle school student representing a member school shall participate in more than 8 days of competition during a season.

Clarification on Jewelry

Bowlers are allowed to wear jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings) during competition. For additional information regarding bowling attire/jewelry, use the link below.
