2024 GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS The Girls Swimming & Diving State Championships will take place May 16-18 at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center in Lenexa.

Wednesday, May 15 – 6:00 PM Zoom Meeting with 5-1A Participating Schools (Head Coaches)
Wednesday, May 15 – 7:30 PM Zoom Meeting with 6A Participating Schools (Head Coaches)

SUMMER MORATORIUM = JULY 1-7, 2024
There shall be NO school related athletic activities. During this time coaches (licensed teacher coaches and coach aides employed by member schools) shall be prohibited from engaging in any type of activity involving student athletes whether it be practice, training, weightlifting, conditioning, competition or travel. All member school athletic facilities will be closed during this period to school personnel and students grades 7-12. If member school athletic facilities also serve as non-school community recreation facilities, these facilities may remain open during the moratorium so long as no school teams are playing, and no school coaches are coaching the teams/individuals. During this one-week dead period, students may attend camps or competitions but may not do so with their school coaches. Click HERE for more information and interpretations.

VIOLATION – COMPETING IN NON-APPROVED ODP/USA MEETS – KSHSAA RULE #22
A member of a high school swimming & diving team may NOT compete in an outside USA/Club Meet that is NOT on the ODP Approved List during their high school season. If an athlete violates this KSHSAA rule, he/she is ineligible for the remainder of season (no more practice or competition with a high school team) unless he/she is reinstated by the KSHSAA Executive Board. Also, please remember any swimmer/diver wanting to compete in a USA/Club Meet on the ODP/USA Approved List during the regular season must first receive permission from the school. Then, the school must submit a request for approval to the KSHSAA and receive approval from KSHSAA prior to the event. For a complete list of the 2023-24 ODP/USA approved meets click HERE. These meets will count towards the limit of 10 meets for a season.

NFHS Rule 3-3-6
Divers may wear tape or wraps for support and may also use temporarily applied adhesives. Swimmers may use tape to treat a documented medical condition, BUT their coach must provide the referee with signed documentation from an appropriate health-care professional before permitting a swimmer to compete.

2024 DIVING WEEKS – GIRLS (Reference NFHS Rule 9-4-6)
Week 7 (April 22-27) = Back Group
Week 8 (April 29 – May 4) = Inward Group
Week 9 (May 6-11) = Twisting Group
Week 10 (May 13-18) = Reverse Group

DIVING QUALIFICATION DOCUMENTATION
Schools will be required to submit a copy of a state qualifying dive sheet with the meet referee’s signature for state meet diving entries, so coaches, be sure to submit those qualifying diving sheets throughout the season.
